I had the honour of working with Poppy on two seasons of Sadie Hasler’s, Pramkicker in Melbourne, Australia. Reviewers and audiences delighted in Poppy’s production and consistently commented on how Amy Nunn and I felt like we were really sisters. That came down to Poppy’s intricate directing. We developed our characters from the ground up, laughing and playing all the way.

The best way I know how to describe Poppy’s directing style is you arrive at opening night not ever having felt you’ve been directed. She’s seamless in her approach. I still feel to this day that my work has never felt more free and bold than it has with her guiding the ship home. My only wish is she lived in Melbourne so I could work with her always. A true talent.

Working with Poppy, in her dual capacities as a director in drama school and as an acting coach, unveiled a world of trust and creative liberation for me. Her direction in drama school provided a grounding yet inspiring foundation, encouraging me to move beyond established narratives and character molds. This approach fostered a deep connection with each moment, my fellow actors, and the world we created together.

As a coach, Poppy's method centered on personal exploration and self-discovery. Her encouragement to venture beyond conventional limits helped me find my unique voice as an actor. Engaging with Poppy in both these roles has been a defining influence in my artistic journey, underscoring her vital role as a mentor and collaborator.

I have worked with Poppy on multiple occasions. As a Director, a Teacher and a Head of Year. All of which shaped me into the actor I am today. Poppy understands what the room needs and lends her teaching to every individual. She’s creates a space by which we respect and trust her teachings. Everyone has a valid voice in Poppy’s room and we were all treated as equals. I accomplished so much through her teachings without even realising. Poppy would challenge us in a way which would make the work feel hard but possible.

There is an amazing balance of complete focus and needed jokes in the room! In some spaces there is a clear wall between students and teacher, this wall was broken down immediately in Poppy’s room, creating a space where mistakes are praised equally to successes. It was and will always be a pleasure to with Poppy and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Working with Poppy was a delightful and rewarding experience. I came to her with an audition piece I was having trouble with. Her wealth of knowledge and experience as a director allowed me to discover so much more and really informed my performance. She has a friendly, caring manner, encouraging me to feel at ease and try new things with confidence. I would highly recommend her to any actor.
